Free Promotion

Unless this is your first time here you know that I love music and that I have a wide range of musical tastes. As such I am always on the lookout for new bands and new music. It gives me such a rush when I find a hidden gem.

Now I've found a site that allows me to do that and influence whether others find it. It's called the 61, and its become such a treasure trove for me. Check it out, let me know what you think.

Oh and if you sign up, put my username: waybose in there cuz you get points everyday that you use to "bump" songs. It's in this bumping that you promote the songs for others to hear.

Sounds pretty cool, right?

Listenin' in,

Hooray for America

Recently some have said I am anti-American due to the things I say on this blog. To them I say, bollocks!

I thought in America we got over the idea that people who speak out about what they don't like with their country, in the hopes of fixing those things through exposure, are not anti-American. In fact they are as pro-American as can be.

I'm curious why people think it is anti- American to question your leaders? Do they think we should follow them blindly, allowing them to take the "ship" where they want? I think people are afraid of free speech, afraid to criticize America's leaders and status, like that will capsize the boat. I am obviously using the boat analogy due to the phrase "don't rock the boat", which is what people are saying when they accuse most of anti-Americanism.

I'll flip the scrip here for a second and say those who practice this are in fact, anti-American. INFLAMMATORY STATEMENT! Seriously though, it's been a hard couple of years for this country and we need to know that only we can fix it by talking about it: lambasting what we don't like and praising what we do. Ignoring things for the sake of happiness/peace of mind is cowardly to me. Now if you don't care, that's fine with me, it's your right. As for me I'm going to stay involved, like it or not.

Rockin' the boat,
'thew

Theatre Experience

And yes I spell it with the e last.

I went to see J.J. Abrams produced Cloverfield this weekend. I usually try to avoid this certain theater because I know the clientèle it pulls in likes to add their own commentary. Due to this fact, my cousin and I went to an 11:30(!) showing on Sunday figuring we'd be safe. We even got there a little after the start so we could sit away from people.

Wouldn't you know it but just a minute into the movie a group sits down behind us that spends at least a minute loudly trying to figure out the very difficult process of sitting down. After that, they obviously needed to have a loud discussion about the sitting down process. Not to get into any more of it but this group did not seem well educated and they were white. I am only saying this because there is a stereotype about black movie patrons and I wanted to specify. Just saying.

Now Cloverfield was very good and unique and I suggest to you all to see it on the big screen, but these........people behind me really had an effect on my engrossment in the movie. I went to see the Simpsons movie in the same theater with a full crowd and that was absolutely RUINED for me.

There is a theatre in Vorhees, NJ that I know I can go to to avoid the masses and watch with people who respect the cinema, but it still feels too much like a art house theatre to me.

I want to start a chain of theatres in which the experience of going to a movie can be perfected celebrated and will bring people back to the big screen.

- First you would have a console where you could have: Drinks and popcorn delivered during the movie so you wouldn't have to miss anything, you could "rat" on people who are talking to loud and do so with anonymity, and engage in premovie events, like onscreen polls or trivia.

- Second, the seating would be spread out and there would be sections for groups or couples. This would require assigned seats of course. The chairs would be comfy enough that your ass would never get numb.

-Third, you could buy an all day pass that would allow you to hop from movie to movie for a Saturday like event. Screenings of old, cult movies would run for those who never got to see them on the big screen or had regrets about skipping them.

-Fourth, sound would always be top notch and condiments would be real....like REAL nachos, the little things would be attended to.

Anyway that's my idea.

Spinnin' the reels,

Slugworth!

Yeah the title has nothing to do with today, I just felt like putting it down because I was talking to a friend about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory which you should know I love.

So the NFC & AFC championship games are this weekend and since the Eagles are technically out (In my mind both stadiums could spontaneously combust and the Eagles would be offered the Super Bowl....it could happen), I will offer my picks for this weekend:

Chargers vs. Patriots: Chargers by 3

The Chargers are hot right now and the Patriots are feeling entitled. You can't keep perfection up forever and the Bolts are poised for an UPSET SPECIAL!

Giants vs. Packers: Packers by 10

The Packers are on fire now and looking solid. The Giants are playing on borrowed time. Brett Favre and the Pack know this is something special for them.

Remember, now that I've predicted this, it will come true. I'd bet your house on it.

Oddz and Endz

Yesterday was the 50th Anniversary of the Smurfs.

Last night I saw There Will Be Blood, starring Daniel Day Lewis. Holy crap was it good. Do yourself a favor and see it as soon as you can. I also had a burger before the movie. :( It will reflect in my weight below.

I got shocked really bad this morning, (remember, I have superpowers) through the ear bud IN MY EAR. It hurt like a bastard. I mean.....that shouldn't happen, right? The other day I touched the TV, and the shock of it TURNED THE TV OFF. Insanity.

Bush is over in the Middle East pleading for a raise in oil production. I thought that's what we went into Iraq for. If the government considers oil to be a national security concern for us...which I agree, why are we going after the oil instead of removing it as a national security risk by aggressively seeking alternative fuels?

Everyone loves hearing predictions because everyone wants to know what the future will hold. Problem is that lately, people think just because something has been predicted that it has some sort of validity to it. Like the weather.

I guarantee it.

Pat Robberson

Pat Robertson is a fink who should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Unfortunately, fleecing people out of their money in the name of religion is not a crime, it should be.

Recently, Pat Robertson came back from a prayer retreat where he met with "god". Right, Pat, of all the people he could talk to on Earth he talks to a homophobic old white man. Solely. On top of that last year he gave you information that didn't come true. Maybe you should talk to a different deity. I couldn't find any videos succinctly showing his "message", but he has said that "god" told him who would win this years election, but that he wouldn't say it out loud.

What?!

I would be okay with this if he was just a crazy corner preacher, but this guy runs a daily Christian News Show that asks for money to fight off the homosexuals and the devil and what ever other fears you have. Homos in your town? Send us your hard earned cash.

Pat Robertson is a drug dealer. The drug he sells is hate, fear and bigotry. His delivery system is religion. That fact along makes him the worst person on the planet, maybe ever.

Family Guy had a great bit about Pat Robertson and his friend Jerry Falwell. Wait, he's dead? I thought the Rapture was supposed to take him? Ah well.

Awaiting Rapture,

American Gladiators!

Did you guys see its 2-hour debut last night?

It was GREAT!

At first I was worried because they need to can the hosts(Muhammedc Ali's daughter and Hulk Hogan). They're almost unbearable. The contestants also seem a little coached on their enthusiasm. But once the action started, MAN was it exciting! I found that, as the show went on, the contestants were really that amped and that made it worthwhile.

I was a huge fan of the original show, HUGE. The one thing I didn't like about it was that the contestants we're such schlubs. The gladiators were fantastic characters. Now it seems on the new show, the magic campiness may have been recaptured. Its on tonight if you're interested. I'll be watching.

Obama-rama

So, it looks like Iowa picked our leaders for us last night(sike!) No seriously, I support Obama and am happy he trounced Hilary in the first presidential caucus(as did Edwards, who will always be an also-ran in my eyes). Dodd and horrible hair-plug Biden dropped out. Dodd was ok, no president though.

Huckabee was chosen by Iowans which leads me to consider...does the GOP want to lose the presidency? Their most viable candidates are Ron Paul and John McCain. Mike Huckabee is a religous conservative who would sooner have the country forcibly converted into Christians then honor the Bill of Rights. Romney seems ok, but he's a mormon and I consider them all to be very goofy...along the lines of scientologists. Who I laugh at. In my sleep. And into my yogurt. Speaking of...
